    Competition Successes

Poulton PS has notched up three further successes in external competitions. The results of the Great British Cup have just been announced: run by the PAGB, this competition is open to any affiliated photographic society in the UK. We came 3= out of 123 clubs in the Nature section, with Jo Davies scoring a maximum 15 marks for her 'Kingfisher with Two Fish' (pictured). 37= out of 138 entries was also a commendable result in the Open section. In the third success, Jo's mother, Sheila, gained a Highly Commended Certificate for her sequence 'My Quest' in the L&CPU's AV Competition held on Saturday. Read More

    Chloë Johnson FRPS EFIAP APSA

A great honour was bestowed on Poulton-le-Fylde Photographic Society when Chloë Johnson FRPS EFIAP APSA accepted Honorary Life Membership of the Society. Chloë had been a long-standing member of Blackpool Photographic Society until that Society closed down in 2001. She immediately transferred her allegiance to PPS and we have greatly valued her constructive comments ever since. Chloë's name is known and respected around the world, as evidenced by her FIAP and Photographic Society of America honours - the latter bestowed on her through her contributions as a lecturer and judge in the US. We hope that Chloë will be able to maintain her association with our Society, despite her frailties. On the evening of the presentation of Life Membership, by Chairman Val Fillingham (shown in the photo), Chloë was still able to give sharply focussed comments about the colour photographs on display. JFPS Digital Match Competition

After winning the 4-Way DPI Competition on Thursday, the club continued its winning streak the following night with a win in the Joint Fylde Digital Image Match competition. This light-hearted competition was judged by Gordon Jenkins APAGB of Chorley, who entered into the spirit of the competition splendidly. It was very fortuitous that Poulton won as the trophy was sitting on Chairman Val Fillingham's sideboard at home, Poulton having won the equivalent competition last year. The full results of the competition can be found on the external competitions page of this website. Read More
