The new issue of the Syllabus Booklet, delivered during the third week in August, has already changed as Alistair completes the finishing touches. The programme listed on this website, as well as the Syllabus booklet available on the Downloads page, are both accurate, however (at the time this comment is written!).

Library Exhibition

The Summer Exhibition of work in Poulton Library was put up on Saturday 21st August by Exhibition Secretary Joan Gaffiney, shown here with Committee Member Alan Storey inspecting the display. Photographs entered for the Residents' Competition are also on view in the Library. This competition is run in conjunction with the town's Festival Committee, who generously supply the prize monies.

One of the entrants, Paul Scudder, inspects the Residents' Display. The winning prints in both the Senior and Junior Competitions are shown below.

The Library Exhibition will be on view to the public until Thursday 9th September 2010.


Residents' Competition 2010

The winner of the Festival Cup in this year's competition is 'Autumn Lake' by David Rodgers, shown below. As well as the trophy, David also wins one year's membership of our society.

The winner of the Junior Competition is Josh Swales for his print ' Winter's Evening, Bury Engine Shed' shown below:

Annual Exhibition News

Our 44th Annual Exhibition was opened on Monday evening, 7th June, by Mr Henry Mullarkey, Vice-President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union. Henry is pictured in the centre of the photograph above, with Poulton Chairman Dr Steve Gee on his left. Flanking these two are Founder Members of the Society, from left to right : Jake Loddington, Ted Gray and Bob Kay.

 

Best Print in Exhibition

Joan Gaffiney's monochrome print 'Bourguiba Mausoleum, Tunisia' was awarded 'Best Print in Exhibition', so winning 'The Roger Goodwill Trophy'. Roger, himself, had selected this print from a display of over 100 monochrome and colour prints in the exhibition.

Best Print in Exhibition - Public Vote

Ray Wilson's photograph of 'Staining Windmill' was voted their favourite print in the Exhibition by members of the visiting public.

2nd was 'Reflections' by Jean Gregson.

3rd was 'Shipwreck' by Gemma Sinclair.
